Sep 5th 2018
There was a time when we could only think about having a driverless car, but now dreams are shaping into reality. Most experts believe that all automobiles we are familiar with will be outdated by 2030. These automobiles will be replaced by fleets of driverless cars that will commute people efficiently and safely from one place to another.
We are at a turning point in the era of technology where the design of cities is changing due to the development of driverless cars. These cars will have a thorough impact on the landscape as well as on the individuals travel experience. The future of the driverless car is coming sooner than you might think. In the long run, such technological innovations will be a game changer for the future of human experience and cities.
The race towards perfection
Car manufacturers are now joining hands with technological giants such as Google, Uber and others to develop driverless automobiles for the next generation which will alter the roadmap of cities and turn them into smart cities!
Listed here are few companies that are working on driverless automobile projects:
- 1.BMW
- 2.Mercedes Benz
- 3.Nissan
- 4.Google
- 5.General Motors
These companies are developing prototypes that are capable of autonomous driving. According to Werner Huber who is managing the driverless car project stated “It’s the most impressive experience we can offer,” Moreover, Werner Huber explained the aims of BMW as they want to be a highway autonomy and ‘one of the first in the world’. According to a report in Business Insider, it is predicted that around 10 million driverless cars will be seen on the roads after 2020. Toyota is making a deal with Uber to get driverless cars on the road, and in this regard, they are investing $500 million.
A Stimulus for Change
The advancement in automobiles would help in saving space that is occupied by cars that are no longer in use. Most of the household cars stay unused for half of the year and occupy unnecessary space in the garage, this space otherwise can be utilized for other productive purposes.
The driverless car will act as a stimulus for changing the user experience by saving them time that they can utilize to otherwise complete presentations on the way to work, FaceTime with family, read news or perhaps get a quick nap after a long tiring day.
How will driverless cars operate?
The autonomous cars will move without human assistance by only sensing the environment. To navigate the way, the car will depend on a combination of pre-installed maps, guides, Global Positioning System, INS. Moreover, the car will be equipped with infrared cameras, radars, and lasers; these technologies will help in detecting obstacles, maintain a safe distance between vehicles, keeping them in the lane and identify traffic signals.
A Completely New Travel Experience
The driverless cars will provide a completely new travel experience. All you need to do is sit next to the driving seat, enjoy your hamburger and relax until you arrive at your destination. Here are few of the advantages that driverless cars will provide:
- 1.Will increase the capacity of road lanes
- 2.Reduce the risk of weaving through traffic
- 3.Eliminate traffic jams
- 4.Save time for other work
- 5.Reduce the fatigue of driving
- 6.Fuel efficient
