HP Z8 G4 Workstation

The successor to the HP Z840 Workstation features the new Intel Scalable Xeon Processors, up to 28 Cores per Processor. Thats 56 Cores, 128 Threads, with dual processors. Has room for up 3TB of DDR4 RAM with 24 DIMM Slots and speeds up to 2666MT/s. Designed with a new split-chassis, the Z8 G4 uses four fewer fans than its predecessor allowing this high-performance system to operate almost silently.


Processors

The Z8 G4 is powered by Intel's new Scalable Xeon Processors. Each processor can have up to 28 cores, and with dual sockets this workstation will handle the most complex applications with support from up to 56 cores and 112 threads. Intel Scalable Processors are available in Options

Memory (RAM)

The HP Z8 G4 can easily handle massive data sets with 24 memory slots that support up to 3TB of DDR4 ECC Memory. Each Processor supports 6 memory channels, 2 memory slots per channel, and speeds up to 2933MT/s. The max memory speed is determined by the processor, see table above.

  • Supports DDR4 RDIMM ECC Registered - 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB Modules. Max 768GB Total.
  • Supports DDR4 LRDIMM ECC Load Reduced - 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB Modules Max 3TB Total.
  • Supports Speeds 2133MT/s, 2400MT/s, 2666MT/s, and 2933MT/s

Storage

The HP Z8 G4 supports up to 48TB of storage with the combination of 4 internal 3.5" bays, two external 5.25" bays, and option to add up to 4 M.2 storage devices between two PCIe Adapters. The 4 internal 3.5" bays can support 2.5" drives with an adapter. The two external 5.25" bays supports two 3.5" or 4 2.5" drives. There are 2 SATA Controllers, SATA and sSATA. The SATA controller has eight 6GB/s and supports RAID 0/1/5/10. The sSATA controller has two 6GB/s ports and supports RAID 0/1. Optional 12GB/s raid controller available. For the best performance, M.2 NVMe SSDs can support up 3000 MB/s Read and 1700MB/s write speeds!
