The Catalyst 9300 sits at the access and aggregation layers of a campus network, where stacking and uplink flexibility usually matter more than raw port count. What separates one configuration from another is the PoE budget, the uplink module fitted and how many units need to stack together.

What to tell us

  • Model or part number — the exact SKU if you have it, or the port count and PoE variant you need.
  • Port count and speed — 24 or 48 ports, 1G or multigigabit.
  • PoE — PoE, PoE+ or UPOE, and the total power budget if known.
  • Uplink module — SFP, SFP+ or QSFP, and whether transceivers are needed.
  • Stacking — how many units, and whether stacking cables and modules are required.
  • Quantity — and whether it is a one-off or a repeat requirement.
  • Compatibility — what this has to work alongside.
  • Licensing — tell us which software tier your design needs. We can report the software version present on a quoted unit, but TekBoost supplies the hardware only: Cisco software licences and subscriptions are not included and are not sold by TekBoost, and must be obtained separately from Cisco or an authorised Cisco partner where they are required.

Put the technical detail in the Quote Details field and the volume in Estimated Quantity.

What separates one 9300 from another

Three things, all of which Cisco publishes and none of which is visible from a photograph.

Stacking. The 9300L lists StackWise-320 at 320 Gbps, the 9300 StackWise-480 at 480 Gbps and the 9300X StackWise-1T at 1 Tbps, with up to eight members in each case. Stacking modules and cables are separate items and are frequently missing from decommissioned units.

Uplinks. The 9300L has 4x 10G/1G fixed uplinks; the 9300 and 9300X take network modules, and Cisco lists C9300X-NM-8Y (8x 25G/10G/1G), C9300X-NM-2C (2x 100G/40G) and C9300-NM-2Q (2x 40G) among them. See uplinks and optics.

PoE. The suffix tells you the level — Cisco lists C9300-48P as PoE+, C9300-48U as UPOE and C9300-48H as UPOE+, while C9300X-48TX is data only. Available power depends on the supplies fitted: Cisco publishes 1172 W for the C9300-48H with a 715 W secondary supply and 1537 W with a 1100 W secondary. See PoE on Cisco switches.
